Guilds of private sector They issued a statement this Thursday in which they urged the president’s government Dina Boluarte to resume dialogue with this sector.
The document has been signed by 134 unions and associations, among which are the Association of Exporters, the National Chamber of Tourism of Peru, the National Society of Industries, ConfiepForeign Trade Society of Peru, among others.
The text indicates that Peru needs to grow “at least 5% per year” to reduce poverty, generate formal employment and provide all Peruvians with basic services. To do this, he indicates, “leadership and political decision are required on the part of the Government, especially the Ministry of Economy and Finance, in order to implement appropriate measures that promote investment, the generation of formal employment, and well-being for all Peruvians”.
“Unfortunately, this has not been happening,” considers the business sector.
In that sense, he indicates that it is “necessary for the Government to reactivate dialogue with the private sector.” In addition, they warn that actions must be implemented “as soon as possible” to “strengthen citizen security and combat organized crime.”
“We demand an environment of peace and tranquility to carry out our productive activities, and so that the millions of tourists who visit us are received by a safe and reliable country,” he says.
Likewise, the group of unions ensures that over-regulations that affect citizens and, above all, micro and small businesses must be “eliminated.”
“Regulations must prove to be necessary, rational and proportional. A policy of regulatory improvement helps raise incomes and formalize the economy,” he indicates.
Along these lines, the statement mentions that “the approval of the new Agrarian Law must be promoted, which promotes, incentivizes and restores competitiveness to the agricultural sector and the well-being of its workers.”
The document also points out that the rules of the game for private investment must be “respected.” “Legal certainty is essential to generate confidence in investors,” he emphasizes.
On the other hand, the unions ask to “solve the Petroperú situation.” In that sense, they warn that this company “has been squandering billions of soles from all Peruvians, resources that should be used to meet the urgent needs of the population.”
“The Executive has the responsibility of strengthening its governance and appointing a board of directors with the best professionals,” they indicate.
The text emphasizes that “the signatory unions defend democracy, institutionality and the rule of law.” In that sense, they specify that “private investment represents around 80% of investment in the country, it is the great source of employment, as well as the main source of income for the treasury.”
Likewise, they assure that they represent “millions of micro, small, medium and large companies that every day face the challenge of investing and generating employment in Peru.”
“We urge the Government to work together on the proposed measures, which are aimed at generating well-being for all Peruvians, and to recover the leadership that we once had in the region. We expect a response in line with the responsibility that corresponds to it,” concludes the release.
