Industry, housing and energy, the most favored sectors of the Credit Pact

A report from the Financial Superintendence of Colombia revealed that between September 6, when the Credit Pact program began, until December 27, 2024, accumulated disbursements were $48.5 billion over a goal of $252.7 billions.

By sector, the disbursements were distributed as follows: Manufacturing and energy transformation: $29.1 billion, 17.8% of the goal of $163.4 billion; Housing and infrastructure $10.8 billion, 26.6% of the $40.6 billion goal; Agriculture $6 billion, 18.7% of the goal of $32.1 billion; Tourism, $1.4 billion, 16.6% of the $8.4 billion goal; Popular economy, $1.1 trillion, 13.5% of the goal of $8.2 trillion.

For its part, the disbursements made by the financial system within the framework of the Credit Pact between December 1 and 27, 2024 were $12.6 trillion, which represents a growth of 28.7% compared to the disbursements of the same period of the previous year.

In that period, disbursements by sectors were $7.4 billion in Manufacturing and energy transformation, with a growth of 26.8% compared to disbursements a year ago; Housing and infrastructure, $2.9 billion, with a growth of 38.2%, Agriculture, $1.6 billion, with a growth of 32.2%; Tourism, $400,000 million, with a growth of 4.3%; Popular economy, $30,000 million, with a growth of 11.5%.

The weighted average interest rate for disbursements has been reduced from 15.60% in November 2024 to 15% last December.

By prioritized sectors, the interest rates were Manufacturing and energy transformation 14.91% (vs. 15.57% in November); Housing and infrastructure 10.52% (vs. 10.50%); Agriculture 15.52% (vs. 15.54%); Tourism 19.71% (vs. 20.98%); Popular economy 57.38% (vs. 57.59%).

The Monetary Policy Rate of the Bank of the Republic as of December 23, 2024 is 9.5%.

In December 2024, 1.8 million loans were made; in November there were 1.7 million. Disbursements in December by sector were in Manufacturing and energy transformation, 1.1 million; in Housing and infrastructure, 20,000; in Agriculture, 390,000; in Tourism, 259,000; in Popular Economy, 75,000.

The average ticket was in Manufacturing and energy transformation, $6.7 million; in Housing and infrastructure, $141.2 million; in Agriculture, $4.2 million; in Tourism, $1.5 million; in Popular Economy, $3.5 million.

In December 2024, as in previous months, credit was concentrated in three geographical areas: Bogotá (31.6% of disbursements), Antioquia (24.3%) and Valle del Cauca (14.7%).

The Popular Economy sector presented another distribution, also as in previous months: Nariño (10.4%), Valle del Cauca (8.2%) and Cundinamarca (7.5%).

Similar to previous months, in December 2024 the credit according to recipient is concentrated. 49% of the disbursements were allocated to large companies (vs. 47.5% in November), 9% to medium-sized companies (vs. 9.3%), 7% to small companies (vs. 7.2%), 7.9% to microenterprises (vs. 8.7%) and 27.1% to individuals (vs. 27.3%).

Concentration increased in large companies, while it decreased in the rest.
