The strengthening of the socialist state company together with all the actors of the economy to guarantee strategic programs is a priority for the industry in Cuba in 2022, an authority in the sector affirmed today.
The Minister of Industry, Eloy Álvarez explained that to this purpose, it is added to reduce the imported component of productions, not stop investments, apply science and technology and increase exports.
For these objectives, it will be essential to link with all forms of non-state management, since of the more than two thousand micro, small and medium-sized companies approved to date, some 500 are linked to industrial production.
During an appearance on the Mesa Redonda radio and television program, the director explained that for the present calendar, the participation of the industry in the neighborhood transformation programs will be strengthened for the benefit of the needs of the population, and the management of government with science, innovation, digital transformation and communication.
These last elements are fundamental for the development that is intended to be conducted in the country, which must be characterized by companies without losses, that reduce indirect expenses and do not transfer their inefficiency to the economy with high prices, despite the fact that the sector is not exempt from the inflation that the world is experiencing, he meant.
Álvarez highlighted that 2021 was a year of great challenges for the Cuban economy and in particular for the industry, which worked under the effects and limitations of the intensified United States blockade and the impact of Covid-19, which did not prevent compliance with the main state orders and the basic needs of the population.
Among these priorities, he mentioned the lines destined for health and hygiene and cleaning products, those destined for the manufacture of medicines and medical equipment, masks, gowns and sanitary gowns for health personnel, in addition to those demanded by tourism. , the sugar industry and energy efficiency.
He also highlighted what has been achieved in terms of recycling, an activity that achieved a collection of 151 thousand tons of waste last year, more than 50 percent through the policy of bringing the recovery of raw materials closer to the population, and a figure greater than 33 million glass containers, mainly for the production of medicines.
