In the first 11 months of last year, the Dominican Republic increased imports of alcoholic beverages in liters by 3.49% when compared to the amount imported in 2023.
According to data from the General Directorate of Customs (DGA), in 2024 79, 504,859.84 million liters were imported, while the previous year it was 76, 820,944.56, which represented a relative variation of 3.49%, that is 2,683,915.28 million more liters.
He said that 72.59% of imported alcoholic beverages between January – November 2024 were concentrated in beer, wine and ethyl alcohol.
In its monthly report, the institution indicates that collections from alcohol for the period January – November 2024 amount to RD$21,298.29 million, presenting an increase of 6.42%.
Cigarettes.
Regarding cigarettes, the report explains that imports of these during January – November 2024 presented an increase of US$37,778.07 compared to the same period in 2023, which represents a relative variation of 0.46%. However, the imported quantities of cigarette packs decreased by 5,978,146 units compared to the same period in 2023, presenting a relative variation of -10.67%.
Collections decreased by RD$330.09 million.
