The sale of electrified vehicles It reached 6,602 units in 2024, which meant a growth of 44.12% compared to a year before, reported the Automotive Association of Peru (AAP).

The increase noted during, according to the AAP, is largely explained by the greater supply from the concessionaire companies, who have introduced a significant number of electrified models of different ranges and prices to the market, facilitating their accessibility.
According to the union, new brands have entered the Peruvian market, adding more than 50 to date, many of them being the largest manufacturers of electrified vehicles worldwide.
“The local buyer is becoming more aware of caring for the environment, and opting for such vehicles that contribute to reducing emissions of polluting particles; in addition to significant savings in fuel use and maintenance,” the AAP stated.
When breaking down the information according to technology, it is observed that during 2024 the best-selling electrified vehicles were light hybrids or MHEV (Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle) with 3,049 units (+22.11%), followed by conventional hybrids or HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle) with 2,858 units (+99.72%).
In third place were the pure electric vehicles or BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) with 435 units (+62.92%) and finally the plug-in hybrids or PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) with 260 units (-10.03%).
On the other hand, the union specified that the penetration of electrified vehicles closed at 3.9%, while in Colombia the percentage rises to 26%.
