The (Osiptel) revealed a new analysis of indicators of the Mobile Internet Monitoring Panel for the period May 2021-January 2022, with which the operators with the best service speed in those months were known.

The operating company with the best performance in this indicator is Entel, with an average speed of 11.35 megabits per second (Mbps); followed by Claro (11.05 Mbps) and Movistar (10.58 Mbps). Bitel is the operator with the lowest performance with 6.97 Mbps.

Likewise, from the analysis at the national level, it is noted that the average download speed in 4G networks is 10.44 Mbps. This allows you to participate in video calls, access streaming video content, browse the web or connect to social networks from mobile phones.

The departments with the best performance in the indicator are Callao (11.55 Mbps), Lima (11.23 Mbps) and Ica (11.01 Mbps); while the departments with the lowest performance are Pasco (9.23 Mbps), Huancavelica (8.87 Mbps) and Loreto (7.29 Mbps).

Latency in 4G networks

In the referred period, latency (an indicator that analyzes whether online content is accessed with greater or lesser delay) at the national level was 102.70 ms (milliseconds).

The operating company with the best performance in the indicator is Entel, with a latency of 78.28 ms. In contrast, Claro is the operator with the lowest performance with 125.14 ms, during the days between May 2021 and January 2022.

The regions with the best performance in the latency indicator are Callao (93.35 ms), Lima (94.33 ms) and Ica (96.30 ms); while the regions with the lowest performance are Loreto (124.66 ms), Madre De Dios (122.25 ms) and Apurímac (119.89 ms).

The 4G coverage time at the national level is 87.15%, during the days between May 2021 and January 2022. Movistar is the operator with the best performance at the national level, with a coverage time of 88.68%; while Bitel is the operator with the lowest performance with 84.92%.

The departments with the highest performance in the coverage time indicator are Tumbes (90.47%), Lambayeque (89.47%) and Piura (89.37%), while the departments with the lowest performance are Amazonas (80.52%), Cajamarca (82.65%) and Huancavelica (83.67%).

Considering an average weighted by the number of events measured, it is noted that the packet loss rate at the national level is 1.73%. The packet loss rate is a parameter whose poor performance can cause the interruption of a data session, or that we receive or send information with delays or incompletely, in a video call, for example.

The operating company Entel is the operator with the best performance at the national level, with a packet loss of 1.12%. Instead, Bitel is the operator with the lowest performance with 2.85%. The regions with the best performance are Callao (1.20%), Tacna (1.28%) and Tumbes (1.28%); while the regions with the lowest performance are Loreto (11.53%), Ayacucho (2.38%) and Ancash (2.37%).
