First UTEC Race in Cerro Largo
Water Engineering and Sustainable Development will have a second registration period prior to the start of the new school year.
This is the first educational proposal developed by the Technological University of Uruguay in the department of Cerro Largo.
Together with the Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, they make up the offer on which the Melo Campus of UTEC is based.
“I am a 1st Generation student of the degree taught here in the department. I also joined as a teacher from the second year onwards” counted Marcelo Rodríguez.
“The UTEC here in Cerro Largo has two programs: one is a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology and the other is Water Engineering and Sustainable Development” he remembered.
Precisely regarding this second proposal, the student and teacher explained that it is a degree that is taught in a hybrid format, that is, virtually and in person. “You study from home and every 15 days we have face-to-face meetings in the city of Durazno” he commented.
“The Laboratories are installed there” accurate. “We also do educational outings to different parts of the country in which we visit irrigation systems or wastewater treatment plants, which are the two main areas on which the degree focuses: management of the irrigation system and water treatment. residuals” Rodríguez remarked.
“The transportation to transport the students to Durazno is in charge of the Departmental Administration of Cerro Largo, which we appreciate because this agreement allows us to travel to different parts of the country and attend the laboratories at no cost to us. We are privileged in that” highlighted the student of Water Engineering and Sustainable Development.
The course began in 2022, so last year the third year was completed.
“We believe that it is a great contribution with the facilities that it provides to avoid transportation or what it means to pay for the stay to study a university degree in the capital of the country” he pointed out.
“Water Engineering and Sustainable Development lasts 5 years. Those who complete the course will be awarded as Engineers in Water and Sustainable Development. At the end of the third year, the title of Technologist is obtained, an intermediate qualification. Marcelo Rodríguez reported.
