HOLY SUNDAY.-Judicial delay persists in the courts of the Judiciary, which each year face courts that illustrate the hopelessness and uncertainty generated by pending cases, which translates into an existential challenge for justice and society.

This was expressed by the president of the Judiciary, Luis Henry Molina, during the solemn hearing in the Augusta room of the Supreme Court for Judiciary Day.

He assured that this year they will pay special attention to progress in the fight against default in the courts in the most critical situation, such as in the criminal and real estate jurisdictions, especially in places with greater population density.

“In the Criminal Jurisdiction we must overcome the past, its barriers and systemic limitations. We have a great challenge: 44% of the criminal courts are backward,” said the also president of the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ), pointing out that it is urgent to transform that culture, since the criminal system represents 48% of the country’s judicial cases.

In the real estate field, progress has been made and modernization for efficiency has been maintained. Initiatives such as the Registry Alert Service, to prevent irregularities, or the new Services Office in the National District, which represents important improvements in care.

He said that delays are a great challenge and work is being done so that no person has to live in uncertainty due to lack of justice. An efficient, accessible judicial system is built from the Judicial Branch.

Agreements in cases
Due to this situation, the magistrate indicated that he will continue to encourage the implementation of agreements or alternative conflict solutions between the parties, to reduce the litigious culture and its delaying practices contrary to procedural ethics.

The agreements seek to improve the operation of the pre-trial process and the execution of sentences. This is to establish interoperability between the actors of the system, achieve alternatives to serve custodial sentences in cases where the law allows it.
