In the afternoon of this January 7, the telecommunications company Tigo presented before the Ministry of Labor a request to give the ‘green light’ to the collective dismissal of several company workers.
The company assured this newspaper that they are due to financial, technical and operational decisions for the future; However, it did not reveal the number of employees whose contracts will be terminated.

It is worth mentioning that this announcement came shortly after his alliance with Movistarfocused on a unified joint mobile access network, with which they seek to benefit the more than 35 million mobile users served by both companies in Colombian territory.
Hours later, Tigo spoke out again on the matter, reaffirming his decision, but also announcing the creation of two new policies for its employees of pension age.

In a statement, the company mentions that it is “one for organizational restructuring and another for early retirement, aimed at pre-pensioned personnel, or those who have already reached pension age.“.

Tigo assured that “Both will be available so that collaborators who wish to do so can carry out
freely a requirement for voluntary withdrawal from the company“.
Finally, he reaffirmed his request to the National Government, mentioning that “Employee departures and income respond to the natural dynamics of the market (…) even more so in challenging situations such as those faced by the telecommunications sector.“.
