Fredy Hinojosa is in the crosshairs of the Prosecutor’s Office.
The spokesperson for Government Palace and former CEO of Qali Warma He faces serious accusations, as the Prosecutor’s Office links him to a criminal network that irregularly sold canned meat for the Qali Warma social program, aimed at children in poverty.
The First Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office of Lima has requested a measure preventing Hinojosa and 11 other investigated people from leaving the country for six months, including Michael Burga, Edgar Capani, Delia Zavaleta, Oliver Burga, Víctor Salazar, Deyvis Espinoza, Davilton Rodríguez, Miguel Rosales , Yesabella Pazos, Alejandro Mendiola and Paul Burga. They are all charged with crimes such as criminal organization, aggravated collusion and influence peddling, among others.
Hinojosa, who served as executive director of Qali Warma between March 2019 and November 2022, has rejected the accusations against him. Together with Víctor Salazar, Alejandro Mendiola and Paul Burga, he opposed the request of the Prosecutor’s Office.
The Public Ministry has also requested that an expert from the La Molina National Agrarian University, Julio Vidaurre Rojas, determine whether the canned meat marketed was suitable for human consumption.
The investigation seeks to clarify the irregular handling of food for a key program in the feeding of thousands of Peruvian schoolchildren. Now, the Judiciary must decide on the Prosecutor’s request.
