Guadalupe Llori: 'I am being politically harassed'

Guadalupe Llori, president of the Assembly, rejected the destabilization attempts and directly accused the Correistas of wanting to take over the institution.

Through a message broadcast on social networks, the president of the Assembly, Guadalupe Llori, denounced that political groups intend to take the Legislative by assault and repeat an old history of abuses with which they have become accustomed to violating rules and procedures at their whim.

“Don’t let your compatriots fool you. This is not about a struggle to prevent an evaluation that investigates an alleged breach of duties by some members of the Legislative Administration Council and the President of the Assembly”, he said.

On February 24, 2022, the plenary session of the Assembly was suspended amid incidents involving members of the Union for Hope Bench (UNES)which sought to form a special commission to evaluate the members of the Council of Legislative Administration and the President of the Assembly.

“At no time have I breached the Organic Law of the Legislative Function and I have zealously respected their procedures. Throughout my administration I have been politically harassed for having managed to make the Assembly a counterweight to the other functions of the State », he pointed out.

‘Strategy of the correistas’

Llori assured that the same ones who imprisoned her for a year in the Government of Rafael Correa are the ones behind taking over the Assembly.

In addition, he stressed that with the strategy of planting confusion and chaos, Through questioning the actions of the authorities, they seek to control the legislature to impose a Council for Citizen Participation that appoints the comptroller, prosecutor, prosecutor, and electoral authorities.

“Now I’m being politically harassed for enforcing the independence of functions. Do not be fooled by those who lie today saying that I am subservient to the Government. The particular interests of no political group can be above the law. I will not allow that. They dropped the ‘carnavalazo’ that they wanted to mount last Thursday in the Assembly session », he affirmed.

The President of the Legislative concluded her message by saying that the best accountability is to respect the Constitution. Likewise, she called for the honest assembly members work for the common good.

“I call on all the benches to stop power struggles and concentrate on the urgent needs of the Ecuadorian people,” he asserted.
