The National Institute for the Protection of Consumer Rights (Pro Consumidor) urged parents and guardians to make toy purchases in formal stores, where they can assert guarantees if necessary.
In addition, he recommended carefully reading the labels to verify that the toys are appropriate for the child’s age, always requiring the invoice or proof of purchase as backup in case of any eventuality, and avoiding the acquisition of games that may encourage aggressive behavior, in compliance with the resolution of Pro Consumer.
Proconsumidor reminded toy suppliers of their obligation to ensure that instructions for use and safety warnings are clear, visible and properly included on the products.
The executive director of Pro Consumidor, Eddy Alcántara, reported that he began a special operation to verify prices in toy sales in stores in Greater Santo Domingo and other cities, to avoid deception to the detriment of consumers in the celebration of the Day. of the Holy Kings.
He highlighted that this first operation of the year 2025 seeks to guarantee the rights of consumers in this festival dedicated to children, which is celebrated on January 6 of each year.
“The objective is to promote an equitable, safe and informed market, in compliance with the provisions of the Law. Since the last week of December, inspectors have carried out exhaustive monitoring.”
