Piura: They capture a Venezuelan who stole the bust of Miguel Grau

When he was moving near the Bolognesi Bridge, police officers captured a Venezuelan who had participated in the theft of the bronze bust of the hero Miguel Grau, which was located in a small square in the district of Castilla in . Likewise, they recovered remains of what was stolen.

The head of the Piura Police Region, PNP General Manuel Farías, indicated that, in a quick intervention, the Police were able to capture the foreigner. Said subject was identified as Euclides Manuel Ortiz de la Cerda, 45 years old, alias “Carazas.”

“In record time, the Police have managed to capture this character who unfortunately is not Peruvian, but if he were Peruvian, he would know who this bust was about, but the one who was driving, we are almost sure is Peruvian and that he is also an accomplice of this criminal,” said General Farías.

The officer requested that the Prosecutor’s Office request prison for said foreigner. “Let’s hope that the Public Ministry does its job and this person goes to prison, because he cannot attack a city figure and national hero,” he added.

Meanwhile, police officers on patrol managed to find, near the park in the San Ramón urbanization, in Piura, two polyethylene bags containing the remains of the bronze bust that was stolen in Castilla.

Likewise, General Farías, who arrived at the Grau Avenue park where said event occurred, indicated that the bust of the hero Miguel Grau will be rebuilt by the National Pro-Navy Association of Peru in the shortest possible time.
