Rains block road in Huancabamba

After the last rains recorded in the The highway that connects the district of Canchaque with Huancabamba, height of the Los Chorros sector, was affected, preventing the circulation of vehicles.

In the early hours of Thursday morning, several vehicles were stranded due to a landslide in the Los Chorros sector, Canchaque – Huancabamba highway, which prevented trucks and buses from continuing on their course.

Given this situation, the person responsible for Risk Management of the District Municipality of Canchaque, Delbert Cornejo Sánchez, indicated that this section is in charge of Provias, who began with the cleaning and rehabilitation of the road, enabling the highway hours later.

The constant rains in this area have also caused the collapse of a wall of (rustic) adobe material, which is part of the perimeter fence of the San Francisco de Asís educational institution, in Huancabamba. At least no one was hurt after this wall fell.

Meanwhile, the National Emergency Operations Center (COEN) of the Civil Defense Institute (Indeci) considered the Piura region, mainly the provinces of Ayabaca and Huancabamba on red alert, while Morropón on yellow alert, where there would also be dangerous activations.

In Ayabaca and Huancabamba, the activation of streams could be reported due to the heavy rains recorded in recent days.

According to the meteorogram of the National Meteorology and Hydrology Service – Senamhi, rains are expected until January 4, which will be of light to moderate intensity in the high parts of the Piura mountain range, such as Huancabamba, Ayabaca and Huarmaca.

Yesterday in Ayabaca there was rain of 38.36mm, Alto de Poclus 24.3mm, Santo Domingo 33.7mm and Canchaque: 44.2mm
