Colombia’s controlled oil production was 739,848 average barrels per day (bpd) during January 2022, which represented a slight decrease of 0.75% compared to the same month in 2021.

The decrease in crude oil production was explained by the roadblocks in the Yariguí-Cantagallo fieldin the departments of Santander and Bolívar, which resulted in the suspension of operations of 64 wells that represented 54% of the total production of the field.
According to information presented by the National Hydrocarbons Agency (ANH), oil production in January this year fell 0.73% compared to December 2021 when it was 745,373 bpd.
The fields that showed the greatest reduction in oil production were Yariguí-Cantagallo (Cantagallo-Bolívar), Andina (Tame-Arauca), Tigana (Tauramena-Casanare), Rubiales (Puerto Gaitán-Meta) and Quifa (Puerto Gaitan-Meta).

The commercialized gas production was also affected
In January 2022, the monthly production of commercialized gas in Colombia was 1,022.86 million cubic feet per day (mcfd), which represented a decrease of 6.22% compared to the same month in 2021 when it was 1,090.66 mcfd.
Now, compared to December 2021 (1,128.74 mcfd), the decrease in gas production during the first month of the year it was 9.38%.
The drop in gas production sold in Colombia occurred mainly in the Cupiagua (Aguazul-Casanare), Cupiagua Sur (Aguazul-Casanare), Nelson (Pueblo Nuevo-Córdoba), Chuchupa (Manaure-Guajira) and Cupiagua Liria (Aguazul) fields. -Casanare), due to the behavior of gas demand during the month and preventive maintenance at the Cupiagua plant, which represents 15% of national production.

To finish, in January 2022 68 wells were drilled, of which 62 were development wells and 6 were exploratory wells. This figure is double the number of wells drilled in January 2021 when there were only 34.
