This 2025 opened with figures that splash blood and mourning on Dominican society, during the Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Year’s Eve holidays, at least 42 people lost their lives, most of them in traffic accidents.
According to the director of the Emergency Operations Center, COEJuan Manuel Méndez, in this period 4 more people died compared to 2023.
The most recent consolidated report of the two phases of the Conciencia por la Vida operation indicates that a total of 262 traffic accidents were recorded, which claimed the lives of 42 people, while 838 were intoxicated due to alcohol consumption.
Here the names of some of the fatalities:
Miguel Ángel de la Cruz, 48 years old, Carretera Sánchez, on December 31, 2024.
Manuel Reyes, 49 years old, on the same road, also on December 31, 2024.
Maria Santana, on the aforementioned road, the same day
Edrish Sant Louis, Duarte Highway between Moca and Espaillat on January 1, 2025 at 03:15 in the morning
Daimar Ortega Valerio, 30 years old, in Monte Grande, Dajabón on a motorcycle, on January 1, 2025, at 1:25 in the afternoon.
