Starting January 1, 2025, toll prices on major highways and roads in Chili will experience a significant increase. This measure, implemented due to the annual adjustment of the Consumer Price Index (CPI), will affect both drivers who circulate on trunk routes and those who use the TAG system in the Metropolitan Region. The adjustment reflects an increase of 4.2% in the CPI accumulated during the last year.
Route 68 will be one of the most affected. During normal hours, the toll trunk will go from $2,600 to $2,709, while the high rate will increase from $3,900 to $4,064. These adjustments reflect the direct impact of inflation on the costs of operation and maintenance of the roads, as explained by the Minister of Public Works, Jessica López.
On the other hand, in the Route 5 North, the increase will be $272, reaching a total of $8,022. This increase directly affects drivers who circulate between the central region and the north of the country, one of the busiest arteries. Minister López indicated that the adjustment in rates is necessary to ensure the quality of the roads and their correct conservation.
On the Route between Santiago and Talca, the increase will be approximately $260, bringing the cost of the toll at $6,460. This adjustment is also part of the annual rate adaptation process, which seeks to maintain the economic balance of the concessionaires in charge of managing the roads.
The increase in tolls It is a reality that will affect the more than 5 million vehicles that travel on Chilean roads daily. Although the adjustment is necessary to guarantee the operation of the highways, drivers will have to adapt to these new rates that, in some sections, exceed a $250 increase.
