Works for Taxes achieve a record in 2024

The awards through Works for Taxes (OxI) set a record in 2024 and reached 126 projects that totaled S/4,203 million, revealed the Private Investment Promotion Agency (Proinvestment).

Likewise, it revealed that 50% of the OxIs were related to the health sector, while 22% were related to education and 13% were related to transportation. The rest is divided between other items.

According to Proinversión, with this result, the accumulated in OxI during the period 2009 – 2024 amounts to 628 projects for a total of S/11,776 million. 89% of this total is decentralized works.

In the ranking of public entities that used this mechanism the most during the years of analysis, the regional government of Ancash stands out with five projects (S/1,317 million) followed by Ica S/840 (19 Projects), Arequipa S/690 (10 projects) and La Libertad S/570 (20 projects).

In this regard, the executive director of Proinversión, José Salardi, stated that Works for Taxes have become a modality with a lot of potential that is gaining space as a substitute for traditional public works.

“There is confidence to carry out large-scale works and continue betting on a mechanism that could easily finance projects above S/4,000 or S/5,000 million per year,” he said.
