According to the Geophysical Institute of Peru (IGP), the first earthquake was recorded at 2:07 in the afternoon on the last day of the year 2024, registering a magnitude of 4.0, with a depth of 35 kilometers, intensity of II, which was recorded 13 kilometers west of Sullana.
The second earthquake occurred at 12:08:29 on the first day of this year 2025, magnitude 4.0, with a depth of 32 kilometers, with a reference of 19 kilometers west of Sullana.
The latter was also felt in several sectors of Piura and other towns surrounding the province of Sullana.

Civil Defense authorities urged the population to remain calm during and after each earthquake.
He also recommended that citizens always have their emergency backpack on hand, which should contain items that will serve to attend to an emergency such as ropes for good immobilization and blankets to take care of the thermal changes suffered by babies, among others.
