The National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) recognized the Mexican government’s plan to protect more than 38 million Mexicans in the United States and announced that will accompany the work in defending its fundamental guarantees, in the face of Donald Trump’s threats to carry out mass deportations.

With strict attachment to international law, such as the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, and to US laws, the CNDH stated that it will focus its actions on collaborating through the legal assistance program with external legal advisors, focused on labor, civil, criminal, immigration and administrative issues. .

In addition, due process will be verified and consular notification will be guaranteed, and a observatory focused on respect for the fundamental guarantees of those affected by anti-immigrant laws and state actions.

Likewise, he said, the Know and Exercise Your Rights program will be launched, designed to prevent and respond quickly to arrests, raids and other intimidating actions.

He pointed out that the Executive Secretariat, the Fifth General Inspectorate – responsible for the migrant care program – and the regional offices of the organization’s northern border will be involved in these efforts.

He indicated that before, the Executive Secretary was limited to seeking relations with organizations and send reports on the situation of fundamental guarantees in the country. However, in the face of Trump’s threats, The priority of our actions abroad will be attention to our compatriots.
