Specialists from the Antonio Lorena Hospital in Cusco performed a complex surgical intervention to treat a 35-year-old patient, referred from Sicuani, who suffered from constant lower back pain for more than six months. The patient also had decreased strength in her lower extremities and loss of sphincter control, symptoms caused by a tumor located in a critical area of the lumbar spine where the nerves converge.
