Venezuela mourns death of former Prime Minister of India

Venezuela rejects Josep Borrell's interventionist statements

The National Government highlighted the legacy of Manmohan Singh, promoter of transformative economic reforms in his country, and of South-South cooperation ties

Venezuela regretted the physical departure of Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of the Republic of India.

Through the statement, published by the Minister, Foreign Minister Yván Gil on his social networks, he expressed his deepest condolences to the people and government of India, as well as to the family and relatives of Dr. Manmohan Singh.

Below is the full text of the statement

“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela deeply regrets the death of Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of the Republic of India and recognized creator and promoter of the economic reforms that significantly transformed the socioeconomic panorama of his nation.

In his lifetime, Singh left an indelible legacy as a visionary leader, whose economic policy not only boosted India’s development and modernization, but also strengthened ties of South-South cooperation, opening opportunities for fairer and more supportive exchange between developing nations.

From Venezuela, we honor his commitment to progress, his fight for equity and his example of dedication to serving his people. Their vision of independent and sustainable development resonates with the ideals we uphold in our pursuit of social justice and economic sovereignty. We express our deepest condolences to the people and government of India, as well as to the family and friends of Dr. Manmohan Singh, in this time of grief.

In his memory, we reaffirm our will to continue building bridges of brotherhood between our nations, inspired by his example of responsible and transformative leadership.”
