The new infrastructure will allow Movistar to go from having 6,000 to more than 10,000 sites with 4G technology, which will represent a considerable improvement in the user experience, providing greater browsing speed, better performance in applications and superior call quality.

In addition, coverage will expand to more than 900 municipalities, reaching new locations and improving access to digital services.

This important advance not only improves the quality of services for usersbut also marks a milestone in the telecommunications sector in Colombia.

Movistar and Tigo

The integration of the Movistar and Tigo infrastructures materializes in a new jointly owned company, which will be in charge of managing the deployment of the network and will allow both companies to continue operating competitively in the market.

With this project, Movistar’s 3G network will expand from 5,000 to 8,000 sites, while the 4G network will reach 10,000 sites, providing users with a much more efficient mobile experience.

This growth in technological infrastructure is aligned with the objectives of the Government of Colombia to achieve 88% Internet coverage in the municipalities, which will contribute to improving access to education, medical care, financial inclusion and promotion of entrepreneurship, among others. others.

Through this network, Movistar continues its commitment to improving connectivity in Colombia.
