Santo Domingo.-Four people, including a minor, lost their lives in violent events recorded separately in the last 48 hours in Santo Domingo, Santiago and San Pedro de Macorís.
Weslin Yerismal Cruz, 16, was mortally wounded by unknown gunmen in the middle of a conflict that arose after a traffic accident between two motorcyclists that occurred on 14th Street, corner 15 of the 27 de Febrero neighborhood on Christmas Day.
According to the preliminary report, after the collision between the occupants of the motorcycles, an argument arose in which several individuals intervened, firing shots that hit the young woman.
As part of the investigations, the authorities have detained several people considered of interest and detained the motorcycles involved in the incident for the advancement of the judicial process.
In another incident, the announcer Romel Roque Guillén died in the middle of an argument with another driver related to the friction between their vehicles in an event that occurred early yesterday morning on the Joaquín Balaguer highway, in the municipality of Villa González in Santiago.
According to witnesses, the argument became violent and culminated in a physical confrontation in which the announcer received a blow to the face that caused him to fall to the pavement, suffering an impact to the back of the head, which was fatal.
Femicides
María del Carmen Yanluis, alias “Fani”, 23 years old, was stabbed to death at the hands of her partner, Melvin Yin Jean Juan, alias “Gago”, in an event that occurred in the El Mapa sector, Quisqueya municipality.
“Gago” had an active arrest warrant, No. 00845-2022, for gender violence against the same victim. In addition, two people remain detained for investigation purposes in relation to this case.
Meanwhile, Mercedes Rosa Nova died from a gunshot at the hands of her ex-partner, Víctor Bautista, who committed suicide.
The Vinicio Calventi hospital reported that Alicia Díaz underwent surgery for a pellet wound to the abdomen. Meanwhile, Franscisco Díaz received assistance at the center for an injury of the same type.
