President Nicolás Maduro offered in his program “Maduro Live De Repente” to resume the project to build the connection of the Waraira Repano cable car with Macuto, in the state of La Guaira, to promote tourism between Caracas and the coastal state, as was the original project of this cable car system.
“We have to strongly resume the Humboldt cable car, in the state of La Guaira. I was in Galipán, together with Cilia and I saw that the entire basic structure of the first stage is there. What is missing (…) we must give Caracas and La Guaira the cable car,” he said.
He instructed Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, the Mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, and the Governor of La Guaira, José Alejandro Terán, to meet to make the project viable “sooner rather than later.”
He also highlighted the atmosphere of peace that he experienced in squares, parks and public spaces, where the Venezuelan people celebrated Christmas Day with the gifts that the Child Jesus brought for the delight of the little ones. “I saw and the visit of tourists from Russia and Poland to Macuto and its recovered boulevard made the news,” he added.
The mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, welcomed the people’s efforts to fill public spaces such as Paseo Los Próceres, La Plaza de la Juventud and Sabana Grande, where she said that traffic was difficult due to the large number of people who enjoyed those places.
For his part, the head of Government of Caracas, Nahúm Fernández, highlighted the celebration of the Retumba Caracas Festival concerts, which were packed with the presence of national and international artists.
The Minister of Culture Ernesto Villegas highlighted the holding of the Hallaca Fair. “We began the preparation of the file to exalt the Venezuelan hallaca as the intangible heritage of humanity,” he said.
The first combatant, Cilia Flores, said that this “has been one of the most beautiful Christmases in a long time. The joy of children is our joy. When we see that there are so many recovered spaces, for us that is the greatest satisfaction.”
