The Daniel Alcides Carrión hospital in Huancayo provided 175 emergency services during the Christmas holiday. The patients arrived with general discomfort, abdominal pain, alcohol poisoning, falls, dislocations, cuts, high blood pressure, bleeding and 3 cases of arachnid bites as a result of the change of season.

Dr. Iván Madis Álvarez, resident doctor of Emergencies and Disasters at the Carrión hospital, highlighted that the emergencies this week were unusual cases, such as spider bites that, due to the change of season, get into clothing and sting, causing pain and swelling. In three patients who were treated as a priority, unfortunately one was referred from Huancavelica, although he received medical attention, he died at Christmas.

Another 19-year-old young man who was playing soccer and fainted also died, as did a 72-year-old older adult who choked. In both cases, unfortunately, they could do nothing and only certified their deaths. Health professionals continue to be alert to any event that may occur during the New Year.
