Forest fires were the most recorded emergency in Colombia in 2024, since a total of 6,293 occurred that affected more than 216,000 hectaresaccording to the balance offered this Thursday by the National Disaster Risk Management Unit (UNGRD).

So far this year, nearly 9,000 emergency events and disasters in the country that affected 1,024 municipalities, most associated with forest fires.
After the fires, the floods, which were more frequent, caused the greatest human impact, impacting more than 709,000 people in 644 emergencies throughout the country.
And mass movements were also the emergency that left the most fatalities, with 70 people dead in 704 events.

In addition, on the list of disasters the country also suffered 438 windstorms, which left 110,000 homeless, and 174 sudden river floods, with 52,000 affected.
The Government, through the UNGRD, has allocated more than 8,621 million pesos (almost two million dollars) to humanitarian assistance, aimed at 13,000 families in eight departments.
