The recent Christmas holidays led to interprovincial trips by land of 1,629,780 people. This represents 16% more than the total recorded in the last long holiday, reported the Superintendency of Land Transportation of People, Cargo and Goods (SUTRAN), whose inspectors supervised the departure of vehicles in 327 land terminals nationwide, in addition to carrying out control operations at different strategic points of the National Road Network.
The body attached to the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC) specified that the high public demand between December 20 and 25 generated a final cumulative total of 27,163 trips, that is, 3,844 trips more than those registered for the long holiday. on December 6. Likewise, it was highlighted that the majority of passengers chose to visit the regions of Ica, Lima and La Libertad.
Among those who left Lima for the interior of the country, a total of 437,760 people were counted, 17% more than on the previous holiday. All of them used vehicle units that, according to the documentation reviewed by SUTRAN, had the necessary authorizations such as the vehicle technical inspection certificate (CITV) and the SOAT. According to the passenger manifests, 122,880 people traveled to the northern zone, 120,780 traveled to the central zone and 194,100 traveled to the south of the country.
Similarly, of the 446,280 passengers transported from the interior of the country to Lima, that is, 15% more than on the previous holiday, it was recorded that 113,700 were heading north, 121,200 were traveling to the central area and 211 380 were heading to the southern area.
At an interregional level, control and inspection actions made it possible to report a total of 745,740 passengers transported, 16.9% more than on the previous holiday. Of them, 237,840 traveled to destinations in the north of the country, 318,480 traveled to the center and 189,420 did the same to the south.
SUTRAN reported that it has more than 900 inspectors deployed throughout the country to supervise that both the drivers and the vehicles that provide the people transportation service comply with the technical and safety requirements essential to protect the lives of all users in the roads. These actions are carried out in coordination with the National Police and the corresponding local authorities, both in authorized terminals and in 26 permanent control points and more than 290 mobile mobile control points.
