The First Criminal Prosecutor’s Office of Magdalena del Mar-San Miguel-Pueblo Libre has initiated a preliminary investigation after the death of Nile Burga Malcapresident of the Frigoinca company, who was found dead on the night of December 25 in a hotel in Magdalena.
Burga’s lawyer, Félix Chero, confirmed the death. According to the police report, the businessman’s body was found in room 301 of the hotel. After carrying out the corresponding procedures, the body was transferred to the morgue to determine the exact causes of his death.

Burga Malca was under investigation for his alleged involvement in a corruption case related to the state program Qali Warma. He was accused of having bribed officials to have canned products of his brand, Don Simonwere distributed to the beneficiaries of the program. These foods would have caused poisoning among the children who consumed them.
In recent weeks, his home was raided as part of the investigations, in an operation that also included the home of the presidential spokesperson, Freddy Hinojosa.
The death of Nilo Burga Malca has raised questions about the progress of investigations into the Qali Warma case and possible links with public officials. For the moment, the authorities have indicated that they are awaiting the results of the autopsy to clarify the circumstances of his death.
