The Institute for Women in Migration (Imumi) and the Foundation for Justice denounced that Judge Fernando León Chávez modified the preventive detention measure against three of the four police officers accused of subduing and causing the death of Victoria Salazar, a Salvadoran migrant. , in 2021.

Videos were released in which a uniformed woman is seen subduing her, placing a knee on her neck while three others watched her. Her death caused outrage in El Salvador, while the prosecutor’s office of the southern entity reported that four municipal police officers, three men and one woman, were arrested and prosecuted for the crime of femicide.
