Sad news. The Ministry of the Interior reported through its social networks the death of the former head and lieutenant general of the National Police of Peru, Octavio Salazar Miranda, at the age of 74.
“From the Mininter we regret the sensitive death of the former Minister of the Interior, Octavio Salazar. We extend our condolences to his family and friends,” the entity wrote on its social networks.
Although the Ministry of the Interior did not disclose the causes of the former minister’s death, they extended their condolences to his loved ones.
“The Mininter expresses its deepest condolences to the loved ones of PNP Lieutenant General Octavio Salazar Miranda, former general commander of the National Police of Peru and former Minister of the Interior. We offer a prayer for his eternal rest,” they added.
Salazar Miranda was general of the PNP and congressman of the Republic on two occasions, as well as Minister of the Interior in the second government of the late former president Alan García Pérez.
He represented the department of La Libertad in his first stage as a parliamentarian, arriving in Congress with the Fuerza 2011 political party. He was also part of the Legislature in 2016 until the dissolution of Congress in 2019, with the Fuerza Popular party.
