Sao Paulo announced this Tuesday the hiring of Brazilian World Cup player Oscar, a former Chelsea footballer from Chinese side Shanghai Port.

Oscar’s hiring was announced by the club’s president, Julio Casares, who described the 33-year-old midfielder as a “super reinforcement” for the team, which will compete in the Copa Libertadores in 2025.

Oscar, who trained at Sao Paulo, terminated his contract in 2010 after denouncing the club in court for alleged irregularities in the contract.

Afterwards, he spent two years at the Brazilian Internacional, before making the leap to the English league in the ranks of Chelsea, where he remained for four years, and then signed for Shanghai Port.

With the Brazilian team, he was U-20 world champion, champion of the 2013 Confederations Cup and played in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, a tournament in which Oscar said goodbye by scoring the only goal for the host team in the painful 7-1 defeat. against Germany, in the semifinals of the tournament.

Last season, he played 34 games and scored 15 goals and gave 21 assists with Shanghai Port, according to data from the Besoccer platform.
