The former major league baseball player, Everth Cabrera, the boy from Nandaime, who through his efforts managed to become one of the best players in that sport to come out of Nicaragua, continues to fight to get out of the dark world of drugs. This time, he assures that he is not going to give up because his fight is carried out by the hand of God.
In an emotional and encouraging message spread through social networks, Cabrera, who in 2012 became the leader in stolen bases in the national league and was filled with glory in 2013 when he was called to an all-star game, saw himself sunk in vice since he was playing in the best baseball in the world, for which he was discharged and returned to Nicaragua, defeated by drugs.
He has tried on several occasions to overcome the vice and has not succeeded. However, in this new attempt, he assures that he is succeeding. In the video made public, the former baseball player looks full of life, with an optimistic look and a countenance that for many is a sign of victory.
«I am Everth Cabrera, former Major League player with the San Diego Padres and the Baltimore Orioles. Today I want to share with you something very personal. As many know, I had the honor of reaching the Major Leagues, a dream that I achieved with a lot of effort and sacrifice. Today I want to thank God, the Clinic Nicaragua Recovery and to all the people who have supported me in my recovery. To recover my health, my life and my relationship with God,” says the Nandaimeño.

In a gesture of humility and self-criticism, Cabrera recognizes that, due to his achievements in sport, he has been seen as a temple and by falling into the world of drugs he was able to disappoint many and for that he apologizes.
“Today with humility I assure you that I am taking this rehabilitation process with faith in God, because I know that with him nothing is impossible,” says the former player.
«I ask you, my people, to give me your trust again. I am not going to give up, because I know that with God by my side I can overcome any obstacle. Thank you to everyone who has supported me and still believes in me,” he added.
A few months ago, Cabrera, who generated news of pride by making tremendous plays at shortstop in the major leagues, became news this time for being involved in incidents of attacks on tourists and neighbors in San Juan del Sur and in his native Nandaime. all episodes apparently under the influence of hallucinogenic substances. He was so bad that he was admitted to the Psychiatric Hospital.
