The Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, visited the municipality of Montellano, in Puerto Plata, yesterday to coordinate support actions and immediate response to the affected communities.

Paliza indicated that the Economic Kitchens and the Presidency’s Social Plan have been mobilized to guarantee food and logistical assistance.

Likewise, he highlighted that the Government will provide support to the mayors in the costs of hiring equipment to mitigate the damage and contribute to the cleaning of drains and drains.

“In the last 4 days, the meteorological event has generated accumulations of 264 milliliters of water, and more than 500 in the last 22 days,” said Paliza.

He assured that the Government is committed to the well-being of the population and will act quickly to mitigate the effects of this situation and will provide continuous monitoring through operations.

The provincial director of Public Works, Leonardo Rojas, in San Juan, also toured the entire province to evaluate the damage left by the rains.

On green alert are: Monseñor Nouel, La Altagracia, Monte Plata, Santiago, Dajabón, Sánchez Ramírez, Montecristi, Santo Domingo province, the National District, La Vega and San Cristóbal.

On yellow alert are: Samaná María Trinidad Sánchez and Espaillat.
