Organizations such as AD en Resistencia and UNT had previously rejected the continuity of the AN 2015
The National Assembly (AN) 2015, chaired by Dinorah Figuera, extended the continuity of that body until 2025; after holding a “secret session” on December 14, 2024.
According to a letter spread on social networks, which was addressed to the United States Ambassador to Venezuela, Francisco Palmieri, the AN 2015 made the decision to extend its period based on the “Statute Governing the Transition to Democracy to Reestablish the Validity of the Constitution”, this in order to support the inauguration of Edmundo González Urrutia, whom he considers to be the winner of the July elections.
In that sense, the AN 2015 thanked the US Government for its support to that organization in the “fight to restore democracy.”

The former deputy Juan Guaidó, who swore himself in as interim president in 2019, assured that the decision is easy to make: Support the AN2015 “which has resisted” or recognize President Nicolás Maduro.
You decide, recognize the assembly (2015) that has resisted and denounced the dictatorship around the world or recognize Maduro and Jorge Rodríguez.
Simple, everything else is narrative blackmail and extortion from the dictatorship.

Subsequentlythe governor of Zulia, Manuel Rosales, also indicated that he agreed with Palmieri’s request.
