President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva stated, this Monday (23), in a statement broadcast on national radio and television, on the occasion of Christmas, that it is necessary to renew hope in a fairer country. Lula reaffirmed his speech about governing by taking care of people, he mentioned the priority for the poorest, the need for dialogue between the Powers and society, in addition to the defense of democracy.
“This is the time to renew our hope. Hope in a fairer country. A Brazil without hunger, where every woman and man has decent work and time to monitor the growth of their children. May every mother and father have happiness of knowing that your children are well cared for, healthy and protected. I have always believed that governing is taking care of all Brazilians, with a special focus on those who need it most. is dialogue and joint work of the federal government with society, state governments and city halls. It is respect and harmony between the Executive, the Legislative and the Judiciary. It is the uncompromising defense of democracy”, he highlighted.
Lasting around three minutes, the speech had a Christian tone, in reference to the country’s main religious date, celebrated this week. “Christmas is a good time to remember the teachings of Christ, compassion, fraternity, respect and love for others. I hope that these teachings are present not only at Christmas, but in every day of our lives. May each of us recognize our fellow being in others, may brother be reconciled with brother, may families celebrate in communion”, he stated.
The president also thanked the prayers and messages of affection he received during the medical emergency he was subjected to in recent weeks. “Thanks to this chain of solidarity, I am even firmer and stronger to continue making Brazil stronger,” said Lula, who underwent medical procedures in São Paulo to drain a hematoma in the region between the skull bone and the brain.
The surgery was performed on December 10, followed by another procedure to reduce the risk of new bruises forming. The interventions resulted from a domestic accident involving the president, on October 19, when he slipped in the bathroom of the Palácio da Alvorada, and suffered a bleeding cut on his head.
Strong economy
Still in his speech, Lula defended the results of his government, citing the growth of the economy and the improvement in quality of life.
“We still have enormous challenges ahead. But Brazil today has a strong economy, which continues to grow. An efficient government, which invests where it is most important: in the quality of life of the Brazilian population. We have done a lot, and we still have a lot to do We are reaping the fruits of our work, but we must continue planting. Sowing and fertilizing, irrigating and caring, always and always, we will redouble our strength for planting.
