They ask for more controls, the proposal was made by Edil Díaz in the Board
The Half Hour Before the last ordinary session of the Plenary Session of the Departmental Legislature was the area chosen by the member of the Frente Amplio Bench to request that traffic controls be tightened.
Although all the progress that has been made during the current period of Government is recognized in terms of the installation of different devices that aim to minimize accidents by reducing the speed of motorcycles and automobiles, they consider that there are sectors of the population that are failing to comply with the current traffic regulations.
Free exhaust pipes on motorcycles, not wearing helmets and children in the cabins of cars and even in the beds of pickup trucks without proper security are the most common infractions.
“Beyond the fact that we recognize that in terms of traffic, many actions and work have been carried out by the Departmental Executive in search of its improvement, we are concerned to see that in recent months some controls have been neglected, such as the use of helmets, which is can be seen especially in the neighborhoods, free leaks on motorcycles is an issue that is increasing and the circulation of children in cars without the necessary care to safeguard their physical integrity” began by exposing Eliana Díaz Machado.
“You can see children without the corresponding seat belt, standing on the windows and in the back of the vans” expanded the Departmental Legislator.
“I understand that it is an issue that we should not neglect, which is why we from this Body are calling for attention demanding a greater presence of the Inspectors throughout the city as occurred at the beginning of this Administration because without a doubt in matters of traffic the majority of accidents are preventable” he pointed out.
Mayor Eliana Días, Front Bench of the Broad Front in the Departmental Board of Cerro Largo, requested that her words be elevated to the General Directorate of Transit and Transportation of the Municipality of Cerro Largo.
