Jauja: Young man goes to visit his girlfriend and dies after being struck by lightning

A motorcyclist lost his life after being struck by lightning in the district of Marco, province of Jauja, when he was returning to his home. Serene witnesses of the event tried to save his life, but they could do nothing.

The incident occurred at around 6:00 pm in the Jr. Palomar, two blocks from the Marco Institute, when the man identified as Jhedalbin Rivas Santos (21), decided to stop his linear motorcycle and take refuge under a tree due to a intense rain, was when the lightning hit him.

His body was found under some trees and his motorcycle with license plate number 3282 DJ was found meters away from him. Among his belongings they found a cell phone and a speaker. A witness to the incident said that the young man was talking on his cell phone when the lightning struck him.
