The Minister of Economy, Jose Aristaspoke out about the insult he made against a journalist in Cusco last week, whom he called “hateful” for asking about the financing of Petroperu.
The head of the MEF was consulted about the reactions of various ministers to questions from the press. In that sense, he indicated that the last impasse that occurred in Cusco was due to “comments that are not true” supposedly made by journalist Caroll Gonzáles.
“I gave the conference together with the governor of Cusco; I walked about 60 meters, but the journalist came next to me, speaking several comments that are not true, insisting and sticking the microphone into me. (…) The truth is that I agree with that suddenly sometimes one loses or one’s temper wins, but in this case there is a certain level of harassment of journalism,” said the head of the MEF in RPP.

Arista referred to the statements by President Dina Boluartewho claimed, without showing any evidence, that polling companies had asked him for money to increase his approval level.
Given this, the economist assured that he has not “audited the pollsters” and assured that he prefers “not to comment on the result.” However, he said that “the country’s economic results are very good.”
