Public servant Patrícia Baran took over on an interim basis, this Monday (23), the general director of the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP). She takes over the vacancy left by Rodolfo Saboia, whose four-year term ended this Sunday (22).
Patrícia Baran, who is ANP’s Superintendent of Infrastructure and Movement, will remain in the position until a new effective director is approved by the Federal Senate. This year, she had also taken on an interim role as director 4 of the agency.
On the 17th, the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, forwarded the name of Artur Watt Neto to the Senate as nominated to take over the agency’s general directorship.
Watt Neto is a federal prosecutor at the Attorney General’s Office (AGU) and legal consultant for the state-owned Pré-Sal Petróleo (PPSA). He served as deputy attorney for the ANP from 2010 to 2022. He was also, in 2023, attorney general of the National Waterway Transport Agency (Antaq) and director of the Natural Gas Department of the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
Your name needs to go through a hearing and be approved by the Senate Infrastructure Services Committee and the house plenary.
Another nominee by Lula, who needs to be approved by the Senate, is Pietro Adamo Sampaio Mendes, appointed to directorate 4 of the agency, which has been occupied by interims since December last year.
