San Pedro Macorís. -President Luis Abinader and the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, handed over this Saturday the remodeled San Pedro de Macorís boardwalk, rebuilt at a cost of more than 290 million pesos.
This intervention consists of the reconstruction of the coastal coastline of the 1.84 kilometer San Pedro de Macorís boardwalk, creating a linear park with a total intervention area of 60,000 square meters, within which it includes 12,000 square meters of sidewalks.
It consists of two large recreation areas, a business area that houses 9 double sales modules, bathrooms, a security booth for Politur and its equipment for the common areas.
Thus, it consists of a second plaza with a recreation area, 1 sales module and a photography stand with native folkloric figures of the area, the “Guloyas”, declared by UNESCO as Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
President Luis Abinader highlighted the importance of the work, which was an old demand of residents in this municipality in the Eastern region of the country.
He reported that his government has a clear vision for the development of San Pedro de Macorís, a province, which, he said, has great tourism potential.
Minister Collado expressed that the work will mark a before and after in the image of San Pedro de Macorís and will have a direct impact on tourism in the municipality.
“As we promised, here we are, with the remodeled boardwalk of San Pedro de Macorís, a demand of its residents for years, for their total enjoyment,” said Collado when leading the inauguration ceremony.
The remodeled work has landscaping along the entire length of the boardwalk, the central island and the seafront. A children’s play area, outdoor gym, universal access ramp, lighting, among other facilities, were also installed.
This work was carried out by the Infrastructure Executing Committee in Tourist Zones (CEIZTUR), and had a cost of RD$290,529,675.32.

Among the works that have been completed in this province since 2021, is the road reconstruction of Duarte Street, for an amount of RD$64,048,704.85, as well as the Playita de Guayacanes Vendor Plaza for an amount of RD$65,493,307.96.
Also the Guayacanes Vendors’ Plaza for RD$57,287,269.55 and the San Pedro de Macorís boardwalk for RD$290,529,675.32, for a total investment in completed works of RD$477,358,957.68.
Meanwhile, the rehabilitation of the Juan Dolió Treatment Plant is being carried out, for an amount of RD$31,333,888.34, and the reconstruction of Plaza Marcelino Marte (Canito), in Guayacanes for RD$32,599,344.30, totaling RD$63,933,232.64.
