President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva expressed solidarity, this Sunday (22), with the families of the victims of the crash of a small plane in Gramado, Rio Grande do Sul. The accident happened around 9:30 am, on Avenida das Hortênsias .
“My solidarity with the families of the fatal victims of a plane crash in the center of Gramado, in Rio Grande do Sul. I hope that those injured make a quick recovery. The Air Force is investigating the causes of the accident and the federal government is available to the state government and local authorities to clarify as soon as possible”, Lula wrote in a post on social media.
The information, still preliminary, is that the aircraft carried ten people and authorities confirm that there are dead. The plane took off from Canela, a city neighboring Gramado. Before falling, he collided with the chimney of a building, then the second floor of a residence and then fell onto a furniture store.
The wreckage also reached an inn, where at least two people were injured and were rescued. During the initial response to the incident, at least 15 people were taken to the city hospital due to smoke inhalation. The Military Fire Department controlled the fire resulting from the fall and is working to rescue the bodies.
The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) reported that it was called to investigate the incident, involving the aircraft registered PR-NDN. According to the registration of the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac), the aircraft is in the name of Luiz Claudio Salgueiro Galeazzi, in normal airworthiness, and could be used for private transport, with operation denied for air taxi.
There is still no information on the identity of the victims of the accident.
