The leader of the democratic opposition María Corina Machado used her X account this Saturday, December 21, to respond to threats from ruler Nicolás Maduro about a possible civil war in Venezuela. “They threaten us with a civil war… What is coming is our civil rights,” clarified the coordinator of Vente Venezuela (VV).
Machado firmly rejected the idea that opposition demands could trigger such a conflict, arguing that these are fundamental civil rights.
«Asking for the minutes, it is not a civil war. Let them recognize who won, it is not a civil war. Claiming the truth is not a civil war. Demanding freedom for political prisoners is not a civil war. Respecting international law and safe conduct is not a civil war. Wanting to live in freedom is not a civil war. Don’t be confused.
