Machado: Asking for the minutes is not calling for a civil war

Machado does not rule out that government officials collaborate in González Urrutia's entry into the country

The opposition leader María Corina Machado rejected the accusations of the ruler Nicolás Maduro, who in recent days assured that the Venezuelan opposition is seeking a “civil war”: “Claiming the truth is not a civil war,” indicated the also coordinator of Vente Venezuela

The leader of the democratic opposition María Corina Machado used her X account this Saturday, December 21, to respond to threats from ruler Nicolás Maduro about a possible civil war in Venezuela. “They threaten us with a civil war… What is coming is our civil rights,” clarified the coordinator of Vente Venezuela (VV).

Machado firmly rejected the idea that opposition demands could trigger such a conflict, arguing that these are fundamental civil rights.

«Asking for the minutes, it is not a civil war. Let them recognize who won, it is not a civil war. Claiming the truth is not a civil war. Demanding freedom for political prisoners is not a civil war. Respecting international law and safe conduct is not a civil war. Wanting to live in freedom is not a civil war. Don’t be confused. It is not a civil war, it is our civil right. #HastaElFinal,” said Machado, through a video, published on his X account.

On December 12, the ruler Nicolás Maduro accused – without showing evidence – Edmundo González Urrutia of “promoting a civil war” in Venezuela due to the messages he broadcasts from Spain, where he is in asylum. Then, six days later, the president assured that he will not allow more candidates to participate in elections who intend to sow hatred and incite a civil war in Venezuela, just as happened on July 28.
