The incident caused the mobilization of firefighters and law enforcement officers, as can be seen in several photos of the scene taken by a collaborator of CubaNet.

According to preliminary reports, the fire was caused by the explosion of an electrical transformer installed on the façade of the building. Although the images show smoke and visible damage on the exterior, no significant damage was apparently reported inside the editorial headquarters.
