A road accident left 22 dead in the early hours of Saturday (21) in Teófilo Otoni, in Minas Gerais. The incident involved a bus, a trailer and a passenger vehicle, on BR-116, according to the Minas Gerais Fire Department.
According to firefighters, a bus coming from São Paulo blew out its tire and collided head-on with a trailer. A car that was coming behind the bus was also involved in the accident.
With the shock, the collective caught fire. According to the Fire Department, 22 people were burned to death and trapped in the wreckage. Another 13 people managed to get out of the bus alive and were taken to hospitals.
The three occupants of the car managed to survive. There is still no information about the occupants of the truck.
According to the Federal Highway Police, the accident occurred around 3 am. The highway lane was partially reopened, in a stop and go system, at 10 am.
