The president, Gustavo Petro, referred this Friday to the reduction in interest rates of the Bank of the Republic, stating, through his account in X, that the entity does not want the economy to grow under his Government.
“The reduction of 0.25 points in the interest rate by the board of directors of the Banco de la República is a political decision. It seeks to prevent the economy from growing under the progressive government and sacrifices the national economy and the people of Colombia. Next year, even so, I will seek to lower interest rates in the country“(sic), Petro indicated in a trill.
Likewise, the head of state blamed the Bank of the Republic for the stagnation of the Colombian economy for not lowering the interest rate.
“They tell me not to get involved in how the media reports, but out of respect for the citizens it is necessary. I said the opposite. The Bank of the Republic does not lower the real interest rate, and therefore, it helps to stagnate the economy and it is not a technical decision, given the substantial reduction in the inflation rate, but rather a political one.“(sic), added the president.
