Marco Mejía Guzmán – Sports 360 Bolivia
Bolívar totaled 67 points in the Clausura tournament by beating Guabirá 3-2. The celestials loudly celebrated with their fans the achievement of first place in the competition that gives them the option of playing on Sunday with San Antonio for the national title and where they aspire to add their 31st crown since 1950.
The Monterrey team was not an easy prey; on the contrary, it was a very uncomfortable opponent for the celestial team, at least in the first half hour of the game.
The visit put a line of five in the back and in front of it four players who closed all the spaces for the Bolivars, who had few options to bother the rival goal.
In a quick start, the sugar workers took the lead in the first quarter of an hour with a powerful shot from attacker Sebastián Melgar that put the ball to the right post of Alejandro Hidalgo, who made his debut this day in the goal of the celestials.
The goal made the Bolívar players anxious and therefore imprecise in their game in an attempt to achieve the tie.
Until the 29th minute, Manuel Ferrel, Guabirá’s goalkeeper, had not had any risky play on his goal. Immediately came a great play by John Velásquez for Diego Arroyo who took a cross for the Paraguayan Alfio Oviedo who did not forgive in the small area (31′)
The Academy was calmed by the goal and the VAR denied them the possibility of reversing the score by annulling a goal by Luis Paz in an offside position and correcting the judge for a penalty that had been awarded due to an alleged handball by Santiago Arce.
The VAR came into action again one minute into the game and prevented the Academy from reversing the score with Oviedo’s header; in the previous play Paz was offside.
The sugar producers defended closer and closer to their goal and in this way it was only a matter of time to wait for the second goal of the local team that came in 11 minutes after a bad clearance by Dico Roca and the one who did not fail was Oviedo.
Bolívar was once again the net dominator of the actions and it didn’t take long for the third of the night to arrive, this time with a shot from Henry Vaca that returned to the goal after a long time and put the third in the 17th minute.
Guabirá remembered to attack and Dagner Montero took advantage of the fact that the light blues had advanced lines to shorten the difference (19′).
The academics were able to score the fourth, but the visiting goalkeeper saved a couple of options. Guabirá only withstood the final part of the match that had Bolívar as the winner to celebrate his party with his fans.
