Authorities confiscate another 15 packages of marijuana at the AILA

Autoridades confiscan en el AILA otros 15 paquetes de marihuana

Saint Dominic.- Agents from the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) occupied other 15 packages of marijuanaduring an inspection operation carried out at the Las Américas International Airport.

As part of the reinforcement of interdiction operations, agents and soldiers were verifying dozens of packages that arrived in the country from Miami, United States, when canine units alerted of controlled substances inside a box.

When opening the package, on instructions from the prosecutor, several bales of the vegetable were found inside, vacuum packed and inside plastic covers, weighing more than 16 pounds, according to the analysis of the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF).

“In recent weeks, the authorities have redoubled intelligence and interdiction efforts in the country’s airport and port terminals, managing to neutralize dozens of illicit trafficking operations in narcotic substances.

It should be noted that the box was sent in the name of a company with an alleged address in Miami, United States and would be received by an individual with an address on the first street in the La Urena sector, Las Américas highway.

The Public Ministry and the DNCD are deepening investigations in relation to the frustrated drug shipment, while they continue to redouble interdiction operations in the country’s air and port terminals.
