Santo Domingo. The president Luis Abinader reported this Thursday that Dominican Republic has been notified about the entry into force of the agreement air transport Open Skies with the United States, which marks a milestone in the country’s international connectivity.
“Good news for the Dominican Republic! We have been notified that the necessary procedures have been exhausted for the entry into force of the agreement air transport Open Skies between our country and the USA“, expressed the president in a message published on his X account.
He president congratulated the commission that managed the agreementled by the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, and made up of prominent representatives of the public and private sector such as Leonel Melo, Práxedes Castillo, Patricia Mejía, Natacha Domínguez, Manuel Estrella, Mónika Infante and Frank Elías Rainieri.

This bilateral treaty promises to transform dominican economy when removing restrictions on international flights, increasing connectivity and competitiveness.
Furthermore, a positive impact is expected on key sectors such as tourism, commerce and foreign investment.
Among the benefits are the opening routes from destinations non-traditional, more competitive prices on flights, a significant increase in ltourist legacy and the facilitation of international trade. With this measure, the Dominican Republic strengthens its position as a strategic hub in the Caribbean.
