The former presidents Jorge Tuto Quiroga and Carlos Mesa, as well as the businessman Samuel Doria Medina and the governor of Santa Cruz, Luis Fernando Camacho, once again spoke of “unity” to confront the MAS in the 2025 elections. They made yesterday after an agreement that established the bases to seek a single candidacy.
Of course, Tuto Quiroga did not reduce his aspiration to run for president amid the criticism and reactions that arose yesterday as a result of the opposition agreement.
“I am irreversibly a candidate for president. I’m going with everything, I’m going with strength,” said Quioga in an interview broadcast yesterday on Radio Activa. The former president was already proclaimed on Tuesday, but hours later he signed an agreement with the opponents with which he committed to “give up personal aspirations in favor of the common good” of the country.
The agreement was especially criticized by President Luis Arce himself and his followers, but also by other regional opposition leaders.
For example, businessman and former civic leader Branko Marinkovic refused to be part of the agreement despite the affinity he had with Tuto. Freddy Terrazas, national leader of ADN, confirmed yesterday that his party opened the possibility of nominating Marinkovic as a presidential candidate. According to Terrazas, ADN seeks to propose a vision pproduction that allows the country’s income to double, going from $us 2,500 million to $us 5,000 million in five years.
“The population must decide between a prosperous, democratic Bolivia and authoritarianism. Unity is key to ensuring a better future and avoiding personal interests, declared yesterday assemblywoman Paola Aguirre, close to Governor Camacho.
